Urban Arts Platform has won the prestigious “Caring Award 2012” at the JDA Halala Joburg Awards
This award attests to the hard work Urban Arts Platform has put into the inner-city of Johannesburg with passion and dedication. Through the arts, we have shown people in the suburbs that the inner-city is a place of potential and value. We have also given the people who live and work in the inner-city, many of whom are previously disadvantaged, a sense of human dignity and pride that comes with participating in an arts activity.

“Now in its fifth year, the annual Halala Joburg Awards – hosted by the Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) – recognises and celebrates people, projects and places that strive to improve the quality of life in the inner city. The event, which took place at The Forum at Turbine Hall on 26 June, also honoured other projects, such as […] Urban Arts Platform for "Caring Joburg: supporting Joburg's citizens"; and Wayne and Renney Plit for "Believing in Joburg: the Stan Nkosi Award". <http://www.jda.org.za/news-and-media-releases-2012/june/840-halala-awards-handed-out>
