My Heritage: Live in the City

Saturday, 29 September

Urban Arts Platform is looking for artists to perform at My Heritage: Live in the City, a performance festival that will celebrate heritage day and that will encourage audiences to think about Johannesburg inner-city stories and personal history.

Mbembe and Nuttall, in their book, Johannesburg: The Elusive Metropolis write that Johannesburg is “an original city, speaking in an original voice.” We want to hear original voices from Johannesburg through the voice of the artist. Individual artists or groups of all performance genres are welcome to apply as long as the work relates to personal rootedness/identity/heritage in Johannesburg City.

Applicants must send the following to urbanartsplatform@gmail.com by Friday, 7 September:

1)      Artist’s/group name
2)      Contact details
3)      Brief biography
4)      Brief description of work you would like to showcase
5)      Photos/Youtube links/videos/MP3s of past work

We look forward to hearing from you
